| Dear Friend, "Everybody in, nobody out."
That simple but powerful idea has been my guide since my first day in public service. Today, as your Governor, I am working hard to make our state government clean, efficient and responsive to the needs of everyday men and women in Illinois.
To reach that goal, I need your help today. To make sure that we keep Illinois on the right path, we plan to compete at every level, in every part of our state, as we prepare for the Feb. 2, 2010 primary and the November general election.
This task will take enthusiasm, commitment, fortitude – and money. So I am asking you to make a contribution to our campaign today.
From my first days in public service, I have been standing up for "the little guy" against the entrenched special interests. As Governor, I am continuing the fight by working to create new jobs and help our state recover from the worst economic downturn in decades.
I am proud of what we've accomplished together in a few short months:
• With the help of community activists, business groups and organized labor, I passed and signed into law the $31 billion Illinois Jobs Now! plan, our first statewide public works program in more than a decade. Illinois Jobs Now! will create and support more than 439,000 jobs over the next six years, while updating our roads and bridges, transportation networks, college campuses and public buildings.
• To help newly unemployed men and women who are trying to get back on their feet, I signed a new law to make health insurance more affordable for workers who have been laid off from jobs at smaller Illinois companies.
• I also signed a law that gives struggling homeowners a grace period of up to 90 days to work with their lenders to avoid foreclosure. Thanks to this law, working families in financial trouble will get the chance to seek housing counseling and develop a plan to save their homes.
If we all work together, we can build a state government that works, not for the favored few, but for all the people. Your contribution of just $25 will help us to succeed in our campaign to make the will of the people the law of the land here in Illinois.
Sincerely,
Governor of Illinois | | | |
