| A MESSAGE FROM GOVERNOR QUINN
Dear Aaron, A year ago today, we watched as Rod Blagojevich was led from his home in handcuffs. As the second consecutive governor caught abusing Illinois' trust, he brought disgrace to himself, his office, and most importantly, to the people of Illinois. After weeks of government gridlock and embarrassing late-night jokes, Blagojevich was finally impeached and removed from office on January 29.
That same day, I took the oath of office and made it my mission to restore integrity and trust to the Office of the Governor. I recently recorded this short video, and I wanted you to have a chance to see it first.
Please watch it and share it with your friends. Ten months into my time as Governor, I am proud to say we have met one more milestone on the road to making Illinois a leader in governmental ethics rather than a laughingstock.
Today, I will sign into law the first-ever caps on campaign contributions for statewide races in Illinois, and next November, you'll have the opportunity to amend the Illinois Constitution and enact Illinois' first-ever recall provision. Please know that I am dedicated to restoring honor to the Governor's office.
In times like these, the people of Illinois need to know their Governor is working for their interests above all others. I also want to thank you for the privilege and honor of serving as your Governor, and for your support in leading Illinois through this difficult time.
With your continued support, we'll make the will of the people the law of the land. Sincerely, Pat Quinn Governor, State of Illinois
