Public Theology: No Surprise

I just wanted to send a quick note about the recent polls that confirm what most of us already knew, but that is still very welcome news. I would call it a holiday gift, but, like I said, it's no surprise.

Yesterday, Rasmussen Reports issued their second series of Illinois election polls that show Dan as by far the strongest Democratic candidate next November. In fact, while Dan leads all Republicans, Governor Quinn would lose badly to the GOP frontrunner, Jim Ryan.

We've known for a while that Dan is the only Democrat who can win next November, and now there's independent confirmation. Your contribution of $150, $100, or even $50 today will help keep our campaign going strong.

This is pretty good news, but it's no secret given what we hear each and every day on the campaign trail, from people in every corner of the state who are looking for real leadership and fresh ideas. They know and they sense that things aren't right, and that we can do better here in Illinois. They know the Republicans, especially lately, don't really share their values and aren't very good at governing. But they are skeptical, too, of the party that gave them Rod Blagojevich.

They want a choice, and Dan is offering a clear alternative.

So take a look at the polling analysis here, and know that we here at campaign HQ are taking this news in stride – it only encourages us to work that much harder over the next 41 days to make sure Dan is the Democratic nominee. Please do what you can, as well, and make a contribution today. After all, we don't want to be surprised on Election Day.
