Join Dan Tomorrow Night...

Logo

Friends,

With only 48 hours left in the campaign, I wanted to take this opportunity to send around a quick update and invite you to join Dan at the FINAL RALLY of the primary campaign.

Tomorrow night, Monday, February 1st, the campaign is hosting a free rally at Fado's (100 West Grand, Chicago, Illinois, 60654) from 8:30PM to 11PM. Dan will be in attendance and will be delivering his closing argument before election day.  To RSVP, please email info@danhynes.com.

Since Dan announced he was running for governor, he has repeatedly said this campaign is about making life better for middle class families and creating a brighter future for the state of Illinois. With that message in mind, please find our final TV ad below, featuring Dan, Christina, and the boys. The ad really captures the essence of Dan's campaign. We hope you enjoy!

VIDEO: Illinois Deserves Better

Gov. Pat Quinn

Dear Aaron,

The election is now only two days away, and I'm sure you've heard a lot of candidates talking about their jobs plan.  Everyone seems to have a 10 point plan that will restore our economy immediately.

You know better than that.  Rebuilding Illinois' economy is going to take a lot of hard work, and it won't happen overnight.

But this week, I was happy to announce a series of investments that are going to lay the tracks for our recovery.

• On Tuesday, I announced that Ford was bringing a new plant to Illinois, along with 1,200 new jobs and $400 million in new investments.

• On Friday, our application for high speed rail funding from the stimulus came through.  Illinois is going to get $1.2 billion in federal money, and 6,000 new jobs.

• And yesterday, Exelon announced that it's joining the FutureGen Alliance, which could bring over 2,600 jobs and $1 billion in sustainable energy investments to Illinois' heartland.

I'm taking action to bring jobs and growth back to Illinois.

But my opponent's campaign has done everything it can to confuse voters by spreading false information about me with negative attack ads, robocalls, and nasty mailings.

We can't let these attacks stand.  We have to fight back and tell people the truth.

We already have volunteers knocking on doors, making phone calls, and spreading the word, but they can't do it alone.  They need your help.

Watch this video and then sign up to help Pat Quinn win on Election Day.

We only have 2 days left until Election Day, and the Hynes campaign is working hard to confuse and distract voters.

You know and I know that we deserve better.  We can't afford to get bogged-down in name calling when there's so much at stake.

That's why we're out there every day, working hard to make sure that Illinoisans know the truth about what we stand for.

However, we can't do it alone.  We need your help to convince the undecided voters to come on board.

Watch the video and then sign up to volunteer on Election Day:

Don't forget to forward this email to friends and family who haven't heard the word.

Thank you for all of your help,

Pat Quinn

The Best Choice

Logo

Friends,

As Cook County Assessor, I have dedicated my career to bringing about budget accountability, tax fairness and education reform. So when I decided to get involved in this primary for governor, I wanted to be sure the candidate I endorsed shared those same principles. As the campaign unfolded, it became a clear decision. Dan Hynes is the best choice to lead our state forward.

You don't have to look far to see what I'm talking about. Dan's budget plan is a common sense approach that will cut wasteful spending and strategically increase revenues, without raising taxes on middle class families. His jobs plan targets smart investments in small businesses and entrepreneurialism to stimulate our local economies and create jobs.

Moreover, Dan unveiled a comprehensive education plan that will meet the goals set forth in President Obama's Race to the Top challenge, increase federal funding for Illinois' schools and better prepare our youth for the challenges of the 21st Century.

Not only is Dan on the right side of these issues, but he also shares many of the same progressive values that I care about. From championing ethics reforms to leading the fight for stem cell research in Illinois, Dan Hynes is a true progressive who will fight for us in Springfield.

I hope you'll join me in these final days of the campaign and work to make Dan Hynes the Democratic nominee for governor. Sign up to volunteer during these last few critical days here.

Thank you,

Jim Houlihan

Last Night

Logo

Friends,

Last night, President Obama eloquently outlined his agenda for the next year. In doing so, he touched on several principles that are at the core of my campaign for governor: protecting the middle class from tax increases, cutting government spending, and investing in small businesses, entrepreneurism, and innovation to spur our economy and create jobs. Enacting these solutions reflects our best values, helps restore trust in government, and keeps faith with those who are struggling, across Illinois and America.

As many of you know, I was one of the first elected officials to call on Barack Obama to run for President, and worked with many of you to help him get elected. Next January, after I am sworn in as Illinois' 42nd Governor, I look forward to continue working with him to get Illinois out of this financial mess.

But in order to do so, I need your help. That's why I am asking you to get involved in this campaign. During these last five days, you can make calls from the comfort of your own home, canvass a neighborhood, or even help organize our "Get Out the Vote" effort. Also, be sure to check out my website for events in your area in the coming days.

Thank you for your time and continued support. With less than a week to go and so much on the line for hard working families across the state, I hope you will get involved. We need your help more than ever.

Sincerely,

Dan

Talk vs. Action

Gov. Pat Quinn

Aaron,

When it comes to creating and saving jobs, and getting Illinois' economy back on track, results mean everything.

I know that it's election season, and I'm sure that you've heard of lot of chatter from politicians who claim to have a plan to bring jobs back, but you and I know that talk is cheap.

Real results speak for themselves.

Governor Pat Quinn's economic vision isn't talk, it's real, and it's working.

Just yesterday, Governor Quinn announced that Ford Auto Company is bringing the new Explorer, 1200 jobs, and $400 million in new investments to Illinois.

Governor Quinn Announces New Ford Plant

Ford's President, Mark Fields, said "Governor Quinn immediately understood the importance of helping Ford by proposing and passing legislation that provides [Ford] with an alternative way to claim and secure these important tax credits."

On Feburary 2nd, you have a choice.  You could choose an old-style politician, who claims he has a jobs plan, but doesn't have the record to back it up.

Or you can choose Governor Quinn.  He's added over 1,200 jobs in the last week alone.

The One to Beat

Logo

Friends,

Over the past 11 years, Dan has developed a reputation as an honest public servant and a champion of good government.

So, when we saw today's survey from Public Policy Polling, we felt the need to be candid with our fellow Democrats. This morning's poll shows Pat Quinn trailing Republicans Jim Ryan and Andy McKenna 42-35% and 42-36%, respectively. Dan, on the other hand, is leading Jim Ryan by 40-35% and Andy McKenna by 38-36%, while also leading Pat Quinn in a new primary poll by Rasmussen. In short, Dan is the only Democratic candidate for governor who can win the general election this November.

But it's no surprise that Illinoisans trust Dan to get the state out of its financial crisis. As Comptroller, he proved he knows how to trim the fat, reducing his staff size by more than 20% while improving the department's overall efficiency. He's also been ahead of the curve on many social issues, from supporting marriage equality to providing state funding for stem cell research.

And that's why eight prominent elected officials from around the state endorsed Dan this week, including former Comptroller and the first female Democratic gubernatorial nominee Dawn Clark Netsch. These leaders endorsed Dan because he has always been honest as comptroller, and they know he will keep it up as governor.

Thank you for everything you continue to do for this campaign, and please be sure to vote next Tuesday, February 2nd.

Sincerely,

Mike Rendina

Within Striking Distance

Logo

Friends,

For the second time in less than a week, an independent poll shows we're in a strong position to win this race.  According to a new survey from Public Policy Polling, Dan has a 41% to 40% edge over the governor. It's clear that Dan's economic plan is resonating with voters throughout Illinois and we're within striking distance for the primary election on February 2nd.

But we're not at the goal line yet and we're going to need everything we've got to get there. Please contribute $25, $50 or $100 today so we can continue to communicate our winning message.

Last night, in the final televised debate of the campaign, Dan convincingly articulated why he has a better plan, laying out a series of immediate measures he would take to put our state back on the right track. In contrast, Governor Quinn fell back on personal attacks that illuminated "his sense of entitlement for the office and this nomination" and failed to offer even one positive comment about Dan after a direct question. (The Capitol Fax Blog, 1/26/2010)

Illinois deserves better than the same old broken politics.  We need a leader who doesn't feel like the governorship is owed to him. We need someone with experience, compassion and the will to change the status quo in Springfield.

Our campaign has made great strides and we can really feel the momentum.  Just this week progressive icon Dawn Clark Netsch endorsed Dan for governor, calling him "a straight shooter from the beginning." And today, Dan earned the endorsements of seven state legislators who support his plan for Illinois.  But there are still six critical days to go. We need your help now to help us get our message out across the state.  If you have not done so already, please give $25, $50 or $100 today.

As always, thank you for your time and support.  We can't do it without you.

Sarah Rosenzweig
Finance Director, Dan Hynes for Governor

P.S. - Please contribute today so we will have the resources to drive our message home over this last critical week.

Tonight's Debate

Logo

Friends,

Tonight at 7PM on WTTW Dan will participate in the final televised Illinois gubernatorial debate. The timing for the debate could not be better, with three new endorsements coming in today from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Rockford Register Star, and former Illinois Comptroller Dawn Clark Netsch.

In her endorsement, Comptroller Netsch said, "Dan Hynes has been a straight shooter and independent voice from the very beginning...For years, he's been signaling that our state's finances are on the wrong track."

Similarly, the Post-Dispatch wrote, "He supports full ethics reform, not the half measures that Mr. Quinn signed..." (1/25/2010)

But even with all this momentum we still need your support. Remember that early voting is underway at hundreds of locations around the state. Additionally, we need your help on election day to get out the vote. Sign up here to volunteer during this last critical week.

Thank you for all you do.
