Dear Supporter,
This Sunday is Mother's Day, a chance to honor our own mothers, and to do what we can to help mothers around the world.
Unfortunately, millions of women worldwide lack access to quality maternal healthcare -- every 60 seconds a woman dies from complications related to pregnancy or childbirth. [1]
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has championed global maternal healthcare improvements such as pre- and post-natal care, nutrition, essential newborn care, and immunization that could prevent many of these deaths. [2]
Send Sec. Clinton a Mother's Day Thank You card, and help protect women around the world.
If Sec. Clinton receives the funding she has called for, we'll see dramatic improvements in the lives of women, families and communities across the globe -- it's critical that we show her she has our support.
Like Rachel in the Hebrew Scriptures, millions of women today "suffer severe labor" and die during childbirth. [3]
These maternal deaths have a devastating ripple effect on families. Children whose mothers die during childbirth are at least seven times more likely to die within a year.
We can't let this pattern continue.
Support global maternal health: Send a Thank You card to Sec. Clinton today.
Despite these grim statistics, there is real hope for positive change. Broad support from people of faith can help ensure all mothers and families have access to the quality care they need.
Thanks for all you do (and happy Mother's Day!),
Beth, Katie, Nick, Dan, Kristin and Jennifer
