A Message from John Schmidt

Dear Friends,

I have had the opportunity to work closely with a number of political leaders - from serving at the national level as Associate Attorney General of the United States to acting locally as Chief of Staff to Mayor Richard M. Daley - and that experience has impressed upon me the qualities that will be required to deal with the enormous financial and other challenges now facing the State of Illinois. Fortunately, there is a candidate in the race for Governor who I believe has those qualities and that is why I recently announced my support for Dan Hynes.

I have watched Dan over the years. We actually started out running for elected office at the same time in 1998, when I was a candidate in the Democratic primary for Governor and he was a candidate in the primary for Comptroller. He won his race, and I have watched him carry out the responsibilities of the Comptroller's office in an exemplary fashion over the past 11 years. He has been an honest watchdog over the budget and he stood up to two ethically challenged governors when few others would. Today I see that Dan has grown as a candidate, but more importantly, he has grown as a public official into the kind of calm, steady leader we need to get Illinois back on track.

I don't find it easy to oppose an incumbent Governor of my own party. But I have come to the conclusion - one that I find is shared by many others - that the incumbent is simply not capable of governing competently and effectively.

As Democrats, we have a profound obligation not to give our state another failed Governor. As citizens, setting aside any consideration of party, we have an obligation to do everything we can to elect a Governor who will govern competently and effectively at a time of enormous challenge to our state.

I am convinced Dan Hynes will be that Governor. That is why I stand behind him and I encourage you to do the same. Take a moment, e-mail your friends and ask them to sign up here to help Dan become the next Governor of the State of Illinois.

Sincerely,

John Schmidt

Fight the Lies

Quinn for Illinois

Aaron --

We've got a fight on our hands, and we need your help. The Illinois Republicans are pulling out all the stops to smear Governor Quinn and his plan to bring jobs and growth to Illinois.  Just in time for the Thanksgiving Holiday, Andy McKenna released an ad that used fake headlines to attack Governor Quinn.  We can expect even more of this kind of deception and fear-mongering from the right-wing Republican candidates for Governor.  Kirk Dillard even went so far as to call President Obama "a socialist."

We've seen these kinds of games before.  Politicians like McKenna, Kirk, and Dillard will try to use fear, doubt, and misinformation to divide us.  But you and I know that we can't afford to waste any more time.  Illinois needs jobs and economic relief now, not more political games.

Please donate $100 or more to help Governor Quinn beat back the lies and bring jobs to Illinois.

Republicans are resorting to misleading ads and negative attacks in an effort to distract voters from Governor Quinn's accomplishments, but Pat's record speaks for itself.  Just last week, Governor Quinn signed legislation to bring in an additional $1.1 billion to pay for the state's medical bills.  Earlier this month, Pat worked with the Illinois Finance Authority to make $3 billion available for renewable energy projects and jobs.  And within months of taking office, Governor Quinn did something no other governor had accomplished in more than a decade.  He spearheaded, negotiated, and signed a comprehensive jobs bill, Illinois Jobs Now!, which will create and support over 400,000 Illinois jobs.  Pat knows that investing in job creation and economic development is the best way to get Illinois back on track.

However, the road to recovery isn't easy, and Republicans will say anything to derail the Governor's agenda.  Take action now to prevent the Republican politicians from smearing Governor Quinn and his plan for recovery.  We can't afford to let fear mongering, lies, and deception get in the way of our plan for a stronger and more prosperous Illinois future.  Please contribute $100 today:

Thanks again. I hope to see you on the 7th.

Fondly,

Dan Hynes

We also have events all across the state, you can find out more about an event in your area by visiting our website. Think Big

Logo

Dear Friends,

We can't help but think big.

In recent weeks we have successfully reached out to thousands of people all over Illinois, but now we've set a new, ambitious goal: Together we are going to contact 50,000 voters before Thanksgiving.

Help us talk to 50,000 voters in the next 9 days. Sign up on our web site now to phone bank during the week or canvass on the weekend so we can contact 50,000 more voters by Thanksgiving!  You can also reach our Chicago office at (312) 670-2010.

We know you share our passion for spreading Dan's message across Illinois, and we're making it easier than ever to volunteer. Simply find a time that works for you in the next 9 days and spend a couple of hours working to put our state back on the right track.

Phone Bank Schedule:
Evening hours: Sunday - Thursday 5:00-9:00 P.M.
Day hours: Monday - Friday 11:00 A.M.-3:00 P.M.

Canvass Schedule:
Saturday 10:00 A.M.-2:00 P.M.
Sunday 12:00-4:00 P.M.

There are volunteer opportunities 7 days a week, day or night — every contact counts.  Please sign up on our web site now to phone bank during the week or canvass on the weekend.  Or you can call our Chicago office at (312) 670-2010 to set up a time to volunteer.

We know the more Illinois voters hear about Dan's comprehensive budget plan and his long record of steady leadership in the Comptroller's office, the more they overwhelmingly support his candidacy.

With your help — call by call and door by door — 50,000 more people will get to know Dan better so we can continue to build our coalition to get Illinois back on the right track, and we can't wait to get started.

Thanks for all that you do, we look forward to seeing you soon.

Home for the holidays

All families deserve to be together for the holidays!

Our broken immigration system divides families and creates fear in our communities.

Click here to sign our holiday e-card and tell Congress to put immigrant families back together!

Dear Supporter,

Two weeks from today, fridges full of Thanksgiving leftovers will mark the (unofficial) beginning of the holiday season.

While many of us will be busy making plans to go "home for the holidays," thousands of immigrant families will be kept apart by our broken immigration system, adding pain to a season that should be about celebration, prayer and family.

All families deserve to be together for the holidays.

Sign our holiday e-card and tell Congress to put immigrant families back together!

Comprehensive immigration reform will ease the administrative backlog that keeps immigrants-- even US Citizens -- waiting months, years, even decades, to be reunited with their parents, children and siblings. [1]

This deep strain on family life is only one of the many symptoms of our broken immigration system. President Obama and leaders in Congress have promised to work together to find a just and humane solution, but to get anything accomplished our leaders need to know they have our support.

Sign our holiday card: tell Congress to support comprehensive immigration reform and keep families together!

Across our faith traditions, our holiday stories share the theme of hope and light breaking in through fear and darkness.

This holiday season, we can help bring hope to millions of our immigrant neighbors. Click here to let Congress know: no family should be apart for the holidays.

Thanks for all you do,

Beth, Katie, Dan, Kristin and Jennifer

A Veterans' Day Message from Governor Pat Quinn

Quinn for Illinois

Good Afternoon,

Today, I took part in a ceremony at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood. As bouquets of red, white and blue flowers were placed on the graves of our fallen heroes, I thought of the quiet patriotism that has inspired so many to give so much.

I know that on this Veterans Day, our thoughts and prayers are with the families of Private First Class Michael Pearson, of Bolingbrook, Private Francheska Velez of Chicago, and the 11 other soldiers who so tragically lost their lives at Fort Hood Army Base last week. As President Obama said at yesterday's memorial service: "Every evening that the sun sets on a tranquil town, every dawn that a flag is unfurled; every moment that an American enjoys life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, that is their legacy."

As Governor, and throughout my years in public service, I have been proud to support our military men and women, both while they are on active duty and after their return to civilian life.  I hope you will find time today to watch this video and learn more about the ways the State of Illinois is recognizing the service of our veterans and their families.

Click here to see the video.

In these tough economic times, it is easy to focus solely on the individual problems and challenges that we face every day. I hope that on this Veterans Day, everyone in Illinois will take a moment to remember how much we owe our veterans, and how much they have done – and continue to do – to preserve our great democracy.

As we commemorate this Veterans Day, I would like to express  the gratitude of everyone in the Land of Lincoln for the many brave men and women who have fought for our freedom in the U.S. Armed Forces.

Sincerely,

 Pat Quinn

Pat Quinn

Governor of Illinois

Governor Quinn, His Barber, and You!

Quinn for Illinois

Hello Team Quinn!

After this beautiful fall weekend, it's hard to believe that February is just around the corner.  But here at Quinn campaign headquarters, we're keenly aware that the Feb. 2 primary election is just 85 days away – and early voting starts in 63 days. Time is flying by!

To help Governor Quinn bring his vision of jobs and growth to Illinois, we're working non-stop – calling volunteers, gathering endorsements, and raising money to get the word out about Governor Pat Quinn.

Today, we need your help. With a contribution of $50 today, you can help Governor Quinn tell more Illinois voters about his vision of a strong, prosperous future for the Land of Lincoln.

Contribute Now

To thank you for your support, we'd like to share another one of our great campaign videos, created by Simon Edelman -- our campaign cinematographer. This one features Herb Brown, who has been Governor Quinn's barber for more than 30 years.

As you can imagine, not much comes between Pat Quinn and his barber. So we're very proud that Herb – a DuPage County small-business owner who tends to vote for folks on the other side of the aisle – is giving Governor Quinn his heartfelt endorsement.

"I believe in Pat Quinn because I knew him as a man before he was Governor, and I believe in his honesty," Herb says. "I try and vote for the person who I believe is going to do the right job."

We know you'll enjoy our behind-the-scenes look at Governor Quinn's "makeover." So please take a minute and watch the video, then email it and post it on your Facebook profile for your friends to enjoy.

Click here to see the video.

Remember – a $50 contribution today will help Governor Quinn continue to work to make Illinois a better place for entrepreneurs and business owners, like Herb, who are the backbone of our state economy. So please – contribute today.

Thanks for your help and support. We appreciate it!

Change

Logo

Dear Friends,

We're on a roll. With 84 days to go until the primary, Dan's campaign continues to pick up steam, attracting new supporters and building more momentum every week. We've come this far thanks to the commitment of supporters like you.

With your help we launched an incredibly successful campaign headquarters grand opening…collected thousands upon thousands of signatures for our petitions…and signed up hundreds of new volunteers to inform voters across the state of Dan's plan to get Illinois back on track.

We're off to a tremendous start, but there is much more work to do if we're going to help Dan bring real leadership to Springfield.

For weeks, our grassroots field operation has been ramping up in size and scope, and now you have a chance to help build something special — an organization that will change Illinois.

We're doubling our grassroots effort and we need your help.  Sign up now to volunteer for one of our upcoming phone banks or door to door canvassing dates and join hundreds of people who are working with Dan to get Illinois back on the right track.

Now is the time to get involved.

Whether it's phone-banking, neighborhood canvassing, or helping out around the office, there is much to do and little time to spare.

Join us this week so we can continue to bring Dan's message of steady, responsible leadership to voters across Illinois. Sign up on Dan's web site now to come in with a friend or relative and make an immediate difference.

Help us keep on rollin' and come in as soon as you can.

Thank you for all that you do.

See you soon,
Claudia Chavez
Dan Hynes for Governor

P.S. We're doubling our grassroots effort and we need your help. Sign up to volunteer for one of our upcoming phone banks or door to door canvassing dates and join hundreds of people who are working with Dan for change in Illinois.
